I felt passionately about the project at the time because I felt strongly that, historically, women have not had a voice—particularly in the business arena.
I still feel strongly about that, and the impact that patriarchy has had on people in general, and held this sign aloft at the Women’s March in New York in January 2017.
But conversations that I have had since then, both working directly alongside a renowned diversity and inclusion consultant for several months, and participating in conversations in certain groups where difficult conversations are actively encouraged, led me to realize something fundamental about the nature of this effort.
This project is not only for those people who identify as female, it is for all of those who have ever felt marginalized, or like they don’t have a voice because of their gender, race, body type, disability, nationality, religion, or for any other reason.
You’ll discover that each storyteller is remarkable not only for their resilience, but also for their incredible courage despite the challenges they faced and, often, continue to face.
Each storyteller reminds us of what’s possible when we refuse to give up and commit to pursuing our dreams.
And each storyteller leaves us with a message of hope for the future.
